Britannia Beach's new Chatterbox Cafe

Discover Squamish
The original Chatterbox Cafe back in the 1950s was a popular hangout for Britannia Beach and Squamish residents.  —
The new Chatterbox Cafe is built in the old first aid building.  —

Step into the past at the new Chatterbox Cafe, a replica of the original café that was once a popular social hub back when Britannia Mine was in operation.

Britannia Mine Museum converted one of its heritage buildings to create the vintage-inspired café that serves coffee, baked goods and other treats,

The old Company Store, which stocked essential supplies such as food, candles, clothing and linen, was also the place to collect mail, do banking and had a bustling soda fountain. Sadly, the store burned down in 1958 and, due to the convenience of the newly-built highway, there was no need for such a grand store. In its place, the original Chatterbox Cafe was built and, due to its lively reputation, attracted Squamish residents, in addition to Britannia Beach locals.

The new café is now open from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily and does not require admission to the museum.
